THE LEGO WARRIORS

RISE OF THE PLASTIC ARMY

Meet THE LEGO WARRIORS, modern citizens in London who possess the traits of contemporary warriors. Each warrior and mask represents themes which include patriotism, wisdom, wealth, creativity and religion.

THE LEGO WARRIORS series was originally developed for an exhibition, created and curated by collaborators, award winning artist Bwoy Wonder and photographer Agenda Brown. THE LEGO WARRIORS traverses the lines of art and pop culture combining installation and portraiture, exploring themes of personal identity and duality with masks created out of Lego.

Agenda was inspired by Bwoy Wonder’s Lego masks to create a mesmeric series of images which capture the powerful narrative of modern citizens in London whose alter egos possess the traits of contemporary warriors.

Each one is caught in a battle to resolve inner turmoil and personal conflict through empowerment and self acceptance. Agenda matched his sitters to the masks, believing that each one drew out aspects of the individual character. THE LEGO WARRIORS continues Agenda’s fascination for and exploration of persona through the photographic image.

THE LEGO WARRIORS was featured in The Guardian, It’s Nice That and Let’s Be Brief, and exhibited at London Fashion Week, The Library Private Members Club, and Acqua 7 Dalston.

The collection is printed on Hahnemühle Pearl, which has a smooth orange peel texture and a bright neutral white base. It creates really natural black and white images and offers vibrant colour reproduction and great detail too. The paper is resin coated with a fibrous feel. The satin finish of the resin coating gives depth to the image which combined with the texture and vibrant colour reproduction give the image the feel of an oil painting. This is one of the most suitable of the Giclée Art Paper range for mounting.

EDITIONS by Agenda Brown is fuelled by a desire to share work created outside the commissioned imagery which he creates under the banner of his agency, Studio Marvelry. As a creative storyteller, Agenda’s EDITIONS extends his passion for narrative into territories where he shares his inspiration drawn from the human and natural world. The series exists for art buyers, collectors and anyone that appreciates a personal approach to art.

Agenda is a winner of the Canon photography award for his portrait work and also an honourable mention in the Monochrome Awards for his EDITIONS series titled HAND. A former graphic designer who has worked with The Times and The Economist, Agenda is driven by the desire to encapsulate authenticity in a chosen moment, whilst dissolving anything that gets in the way of connecting with a great image. Cross fertilisation and collaborating with people to create something amazing is a key feature of his approach.

He is a rich observer with a sniper’s eye for detail but an art director’s empathy for character and role. The final image is a personalised choreography, filmic in scale but a close-up of the person as an actor on their own stage.

Bwoy Wonder is the 2014 winner of Creative Pioneers run in conjunction with the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising and endorsed by Metro newspaper, and creative agencies such as Saatchi and Saatchi.
