Following the award winning launch of the fine art collection “HAND.”, AGENDA BROWN is inspired to explore a new notion for the series. “In response to numerous requests, I have developed HAND_TRAIT which enables clients to commission their very own personalised image that draws inspiration from the first series.”

Family photos are such an important form of memory, and we all have them or wish we had them in our lives – memories that can be shared and passed down for generations.
Because we are a new family, we wanted to have a way of memorialising this stage of our journey together with something that was symbolic of who we are together.
We wanted something that reflected us that was also unique and out of the ordinary – something evocative, more akin to art that would be beautiful and timeless.

We knew Agenda’s work and in the process of thinking about our family photo we thought about how incredible it would be to have a family HAND_TRAIT because as parents, both of us are makers and doers and do a lot with our hands. So this image is also symbolic, not just of our togetherness, connection and support for each other, but also of the work that we do in the world.
Bringing this piece to life with Agenda was such a smooth collaborative and creative process for us all, including our daughter who also felt comfortable in his space. It mattered to us that the whole experience would be special, which it was and this just adds to the memory we created together.

WHERE IT ALL STARTED - THE HAND. STORY
A collaborator friend arrived at the studio for a meeting. We were talking, and as I was watching her speak, I observed her making a particular gesture. It was a transformative moment for me, similar to the transformations that many of my clients experience during the journey of our work together. It was a moment when my practice opened up in a different direction.
“I have had a lifelong connection with and fascination for hands. They are tough but also agile, they express character in a very unfiltered, unconscious way; in this, they reveal so much about individual humanity.
Engaging with human nature in a very deep way is a powerful inspiration for me, and this philosophy of close, detailed, slow looking, expresses itself through the lens.
To see a hand at a scale so much greater than it is in reality, zooming in on something that normally flashes past you in a split second in a conversation, asks you to examine it for a length of time you would never normally spend on it. There is a deeper looking, and for longer, that reveals so many layers in stillness.”
